lurkingkoboldSupposedly, there is no magic here. No traps, no subtle beacons designed to attach to unwary passerby, nothing but a few trusted humans and one carefully vetted personal collection.
Supposedly.
The kobold doesn't buy it, not enough to be comfortable just not checking. So she checks, every few days, walking a wide perimeter around Miles' house. Miles has a friend staying in another house, too, so she checks on that one as well, not quite as often - she's been asked not to risk scaring the friend - but a bit more thoroughly when she does, checking both a reasonable perimeter around it and the grounds of the house itself.
So far, the promise of no magic has been accurate. But today, as she approaches the house, her enhanced vision shows that distinctive shine through the trees.
